Cardoza said the her Frankie collection illustrates the new look for men that reflects back to the days of early Elvis, James Dean and the Rat Pack.

“These ‘old school’ looks with new twists make men look really masculine and well groomed – from the days when men carried combs and tidied their hair throughout the day,” she said.

The reason Cardoza’s hefty written submission and stunning, young New York Mafioso-style collection caught the judges eye was her training in both barbering and men’s hairdressing, which makes her a rarity.

When I did my training ‘grunge’ was in, men’s hair was long and messy, and this new fashion could not be further from the type of men’s hairstyles that I learnt to cut on,” she said. “So I did all I could to learn barbering as well.”

Her big break came after winning a major photographic competition in 2005 which led to a barbering training course in Denmark.

Cardoza has only ever trained and worked at CAST which has a reputation for the highest quality hairdressing skills and a strong international fashion thrust to its hairdressing design.

As well as being a men’s specialist, she is equally passionate about curly hair and session styling, having worked on fashion magazine shoots, fashion weeks and assisted Creative Director Freda Rossidis as the Australian representative of the Alternative Hair Show’s Visionary Award in London in 2012.
